Bachelor Final Year Survey (January 2024)
Title: Health Insurance Scheme for the students of the University of Dhaka
As part of my academic exploration into health economics, I worked on a report analyzing the implementation and potential impact of a health insurance scheme for the students of the University of Dhaka. This study was undertaken as part of the Economics of Uncertainty & Insurance course at the Institute of Health Economics (IHE), University of Dhaka, and aimed to assess the feasibility, challenges, and benefits of offering health insurance to university students.
Health insurance, a crucial component of modern healthcare financing, plays a vital role in improving access to medical services while reducing the financial burden on individuals. In countries like Bangladesh, where out-of-pocket medical expenses account for a substantial portion of total health spending, health insurance can provide significant relief. Title: Application of Linear Programming in Management of Private Hospital/Clinic
Another crucial aspect of the survey was assessing the hospitals’ response to Covid-19. With the pandemic putting a significant strain on healthcare systems, it was important to understand how hospitals managed their Covid-19 testing, vaccination programs, and patient care for infected individuals. I collected data on the number of Covid tests conducted daily and annually, the expenditure on each test, the number of beds allocated for Covid patients, and the impact of the pandemic on the hospitals’ financials.
One of the key sections of the survey involved financial management. I gathered data on the hospitals’ annual budgets, expenditures, and profit or loss figures.
